HELP US FILL EMPTY ARMS WITH THE
‘BEAR HUGS’ TEDDY BEAR DRIVE
Every year in Alberta, an alarming number of parents joyfully expecting the birth of their child come home with empty arms.
Whether through miscarriage, complications during delivery, stillbirth, emergency medical situations or unexplainable circumstances, 15,000 babies die every year in Alberta.
Nothing can prepare parents for the shattering loss. And very few comforts can be found. But magic has been found in the gift of a humble teddy bear.
New teddy bears donated to Walk to Remember will be given to local hospitals so that grieving parents who have just lost their baby have something to hold on to. Large, huggable teddy bears are not merely nursery room accessories – these bears hold a special and meaningful connection that is a very real and needed part of the healing process for both mothers and fathers.
Sadly, the need for bears is growing. Please donate generously and know that the gift of a Bear Hug to a grieving parent, lasts forever.
HOW DO I DELIVER MY TEDDY BEAR DONATION?
Just bring your teddy bear donations along with you to the Walk to Remember on October 3th. We will have a special area set up where you can drop off your bears.
If you have new teddy bears you want to donate, but can't make it to the walk, contact us at bearhugs@walktoremember.ca and we will make special arrangements with you.
Anatomy of a teddy bear
We appreciate donations of NEW, quality teddy bears that are a good size for hugging.
They will be a keepsake for a lifetime so look for ones that can stand up to many years of comforting hugs. Gender neutral colours, please.
